College Letters??

Has anyone just begun getting a huge influx of college letters. I took the PSAT freshman year, scored pretty averagely (177) and got like 2 letters. This year (soph) I did way better (214) and in the past 2 days I've gotten 10 letters! I've gotten more mail than my parents! So, is this perhaps because the College Board just released scores or something? I think I checked yes on the form that asked if you wanted colleges to contact you, and one school, NYU, knew my "major" of international buisness (it was a bs thing I checked on the PSAT form).

yep the deluge of letters comes after you take the PSAT if you checked yes on the form

Yep, ever since I got my PSAT scores. I got two letters today. One from the University of Miami, and the other from Elon University (wherever that's at).

I thought you could only take the PSAT once?

They're still sending me letters. I'm a senior. There are pretty much no schools that one could theoretically apply to. I'm already in college.

Oklahoma, please stop the deluge of glossy postcards telling me I could get a full ride! Stop giving me TWO each time! For the love of God, think of the trees!

My d is a sophmore, hasn't take the PSAT yet, just the PLAN, but she is getting nailed with mail, while none of her friends are...not sure what list she is on to warrant the attention, but so far, she is alone in getting the mail and email among people she has talked to

I got 12 letters just from today... ugh

There's a special corner in my room for PSAT letters. It's growing rather quickly. I added three today. University of Minnesota, University of Richmond, and a small package with different Catholic university postcards.

I throw them out :] Though recycling would probably be the better idea.

HAHAHA SAME HERE.

you could always call the colleges that ur not interested in and ask them not to send you any more mail to conserve paper :)

that's what I did

Her friends were smart enough to NOT check that damned box.

from what we read PLAN scores are not supposed to go anywhere....so why she is getting stuff, who knows

I checked the box just for this reason...I love mail!

But then again, the trees...

I feel bad.

haha I love mail too! Plus, several schools that I didn't know about sent me mail. I actually discovered University of Chicago through their mailings and got on the mailing list of other colleges I'm interested in. My school has one guidance councilor and your luck to meet with him two times to talk about colleges. Getting mail from colleges has been the best way for me to see whats out there. Don't just disregard it, take some time to sift through it and read it, you might find a hidden gem!
