College Life

Hey guys,
I'm a Junior guy in highschool and i have a big question and I really need an answer!

I am in Honors and AP classes, a lot of clubs, and sports. Honestly this year and last year, its been a lot of work and not much fun. I have friends and we hang out but with school taking up all morning and having around 3-5 hours of homework its a ton of stress. I like to party but honestly I dont go to many and I can only go out on friday nights really. Basically I have one big point:

How does college life compare to high school life?

I also have a few other questions,

I was wondering if college life is more "fun" is it a lighter work load at all?
Do people generally have more fun in the sense of going to more parties having less work and in general having more time for friends, free time activites and fun?
What is a day in college like?
Are people nicer?
How does fraternity life compare to dorm life?

There’s less busy work in college but more papers and exams. Typically gen eds aren’t “fun,” but once you get into your major classes, those are much more enjoyable.

A typical day in college varies for each person…it depends on if your classes are in the morning, afternoon, or evening and if you work or not. Many students don’t have class every day. One semester I had no classes on Tuesdays and another semester I had no classes on Fridays.

Whether people are nicer just depends on the school.

College is much better than high school. You live with people your age and have much more freedom.

I didn’t go Greek so I don’t know anything about frat/sorority life.

well I’ve basically had freedom since my sister went to college, but I know that everyone loves that aspect in college a lot.
Depends on where you go+ the type of professors because I have even more busy week in college than I did in HS which is super annoying. Gen Eds do such a lot, and it gets me so excited to start taking classes for my major.
Schedule depnds on what you want to take, its a lot more open and your not in classes all day like in hs
At my school freshman year, the people were the absolute worst. Thought they were hot **** and had no class among other things, so it depends on where you go/ if the school is a good fit for you.
I personally feel like I had a better time in HS than college because I feel like a majority of the college students I dealt with were not only extremely immature but also rude.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by dorm life vs. frat life. Depends if you go to a school that has greek row

It’s pretty boring (for me). It’s study study study unless you’re a liberal arts major at my school and if you’re a liberal arts major here no one really takes you seriously. My school is all about engineering, science, and architecture.

I basically overhear people talking about differential equations or some kind of physics principle 80% of the time rather than normal conversation.

The Greek Life can be completely avoided and probably 99% of the immature people that go to my school are part of it. It’s not an extremely big thing on campus and no one who takes their education seriously (STEM) at my university really has the time to be part of one anyway.

Most of the people I meet are nice and courteous. Fortunately I haven’t met as many stupid people as I did at community college and high school.

From my experience:
It’s a lot more of OUTSIDE work than in class work.

Depending on where you live, you can go out all the time or not at all. It just depends on YOU. You can party if you want to, or not.

I only have classes on Tues & Thurs so MOST of my days are like super chilling and being lazy and doing homework. Eating whatever I want and going to the gym sometimes =) Hanging out with friends, of course.

I wouldn’t say people are nicer… but it’s not like high school anymore. Trust. It’s only like high school if you surround yourself with people of immature mindsets.

Go to rush, check it out and see for yourself. Don’t let the opinion of other people sway you the wrong way. Frats definitely party but you don’t have to go out to all of them. Trust me, after a while, parties will tire you out. Know your limit when it comes to alcohol and remember, school first! I know guys who dorm and are also in a frat and usually, they’re not in their dorm much and if they are - so are their brothers.
It’s definitely NOT a big thing on any campus, usually greek life isn’t more than 10% of a school campus, but it’s a great way to make friends (yes, it’s expensive, but so is college and other clubs) (:
