okay s im a junior and my my GPA is 3.7 and i have taken a UConn college course and im in the top 10% of my class. my SATs are about 1600. I go to a vocational school as well as a public high school. i also have taken AP classes. by the time i graduate i will have 500+ community service hours and i am involved with many ECs and sports.

these are the colleges im thinking:
Bard college
dickinson college
bryn mawr college
temple university
franklin and marshall college
penn state
darthmouth(?) college
u penn
brown university
boston university
binghamton university
stony brook university
wagner university
UConn
weslyan
unh

aha i know a lot right? well i just need a little help figuring what exactly to look for. i want to major in anthropology and archaeology and minor in chemistry as well as a lot of foreign languages.

Not to scare you but with those SATs, I don’t think you have a very good chance anywhere except maybe UNH and Wagner. Even bringing it up 300 points or so will still leave a lot of those out of reach.

Also, a double major / triple+ minor is a bit unheard of.

haha i know i have to bring it up more but at least 200 but even then…dickinson is test optional as well. and i dont want to triple minor. lol just 1 minor and double major. and still not everyone that goes to those schools have a 1900+ SAT. i mean with the ivys yes lol i know thats a way out of the question, but anywhere else would anyone suggest?!

Franklin & Marshall is a no.
Bryn Mawr, probably no.
Brown, definitely not.
Boston U, unlikely.
U Penn, unlikely

Unfortunately, with those scores, it’s really unlikely you’ll get into any top tier schools, and you have a lot listed. I know for a fact that my SAT scores got me into American (because my GPA certainly did not), and American is not an Ivy. I would recommend striking any colleges in which your SAT scores do not appear in the mid 50%.

Aim lower. I hate to be harsh, but it’s the truth. Even if you manage to pull up your scores by 200 to 300 points (unlikely, though I can’t talk because I got mine up 180), it is still below the average for most of those schools.

Look at more state schools, and no, UPenn is not a state school. Penn State, U Vermont, etc., may be more appropriate for your range.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Averages exist because there are low and high data. However, without a hook or something, I would say your chances are slim, very slim. The Ivies are almost a guaranteed no (read: ALMOST). Stonybrook and BU are low reaches, as are some of the others but to be honest, I think you should either replace some reaches with matches or add some matches. Get those scores up!

thanks everyone so much! does anyone know of schools that would fit my SATs with a great campus, like an older feeling, not being so newly made?in new england? and forgetting the ivys what schools that i suggested would be my reach, safetys, and matches? being that dickinson, franklin and marshall, and bard have standardized testing options where you dont need to submit the SATs.

Those being test optional may work in your favour, but it may also work against you. I’ve seen it go both ways. Talk to one of the counselors at your school and have him/her help you compile a list of matchs, good reaches and safeties. Don’t worry, you still have another few months to figure it all out :)

Why don’t you try applying to SAT optional schools? There are some great SAT optional schools in new england which have beautiful campuses!

Some colleges that pop in my mind are:
Bard College
Bennington College
Hampshire College
Sarah Lawrence College
Bates College
Connecticut College
