Mikey175 - I am an "older" MMSS alum (I have two teens myself) and it is a fabulous program. Very well respected, will enable her to indulge her math geek-itude but combine it with a social science (most combine with economics; some with political science, psychology, sociology, etc.). I worked for a major company for many years and now do independent consulting and use the math / stats every day. And Northwestern fits her other criteria in terms of Div 1, Greek presence, etc.

Pizzagirl, do you know if you have to combine it with a social science? According to the 2006 alum newsletter, there were a few non-SS majors (in case Mikey175's D wants to major in industrial engg & management sciences):
Current MMSS students: 150
Economics: 122
Sociology: 4
Communication Studies: 2
Economics & Math: 7
Math: 3
Computer Engineering: 2
Industrial Engineering: 1
Psychology: 4
Political Science: 3
Applied Math: 1
Education: 1

I'd go with what's on the website now. It's notable to me that almost all are econ majors, though. In the earlier era, while econ was still the predominant co-major (it was mine), there was more representation of political science, psychology and sociology - and even anthropology (Prof. Dacey, who found the program, was an anthro professor). I hope this doesn't mean it's become solely pre-professional in scope.
