College List Suggestions! (Schools between USC and LMU)

<p>Hi all! I'm new here but I've been doing quite a bit of research for the past 6 months or so. My dilemma is that I have a lot of good reach schools and lots of safeties, but I'm trying to find some good target schools.</p>

<p>Info on Me:
GPA: 3.76/4.05
SAT: 2090 ACT: 31
3 Years varsity swimming & water polo
7 Years Trumpet Playing
Assorted coaching in swimming and polo, camp counselor, library volunteer
Yada yada</p>

<p>Reach Schools:
USC
U Michigan Anne Arbor
Notre Dame (Pops is alumnus)
Boston College
Emory
Tulane
Georgetown (Super-Reach)
Northwestern (")</p>

<p>Target:
UCSD
UCSB
George Washington</p>

<p>Safety:
LMU
University of Washington</p>

<p>I really liked USC, I'm interested (but not restricting myself to) Business, and I would like to have a school with a good reputation and alumni network. Sports are just gravy, they're nice but I could do without. I'm open to pretty much any location (except for you South Dakota) but having some kind of metro area nearby would also be gravy. School size is also relatively flexible with me, the only thing I'm not interested in is something very small (like <5,000)</p>

<p>For business, Chapman? as safety/target.</p>

<p>Northeastern or University of Arizona could be good, especially the honors programs. Coops at Northeastern could help with networking for business.</p>

<p>I’ve always thought of UoA and Chapman as party schools. I know ucsb has that rep too but because it’s a UC it seems more intellectual. Thanks for the responses though!</p>

<p>You are in-state for University of Washington?</p>

<p>Do you care about cost? If you want merit scholarship, you got to way down the ranks.</p>

<p>What is your rank? You may have way too many high reaches if your rank is not adequate.</p>

<p>I’m in a public high school in California that’s pretty highly ranked. I’m in at least the top 9% of my class. Cost is most likely not an issue</p>

<p>I’ll have taken 7 APs by graduation if that makes any difference. My SAT will also likely come up with future testing. </p>

<p>Keep in mind that the long list of reaches is by no means a final draft those are just some that sprang to mind, not that I plan to apply to them.</p>

<p>Holy Cross-might be a good choice with a great campus 1 hour from Boston. Holy Cross has a Division 1 sports program that competes against most Ivies. HC also has one of the better alumni networks for job placement and the school is SAT optional.</p>

<p>Holy Cross seems a little too small for me, and a little too religious, other than that I liked everything about it.</p>

<p>You might like University of Richmond and Wake Forest (good business programs).</p>

<p>Those look like excellent candidates! Thank you very much for the suggestions. I hadn’t heard of University of Richmond before this, is it especially selective? Do you think I have a good chance at these schools or are they more for the reach column?</p>

<p>Santa Clara seems like a good target school. I have been looking at that school as I am in the same boat.</p>

<p>@tjmacdonald Santa Clara is more toward the safety end of the spectrum, I like a lot of things about it, but it’s just a little too close to me.</p>
