College List Too Long?

I'm having a really hard time trying to find out which colleges would be best for me to apply to. I 've posted stats on this website before, but they keep changing...I've done a lot over the summer. Anyway- here they are...and my list of "hopeful" schools are at the bottom. Thank you for any feedback. I don't mean to be a bother and clog up the forums.

Also, if my stats aren't good enough to qualify for any of my reach schools, could you please recommend some other equally academically strong, but perhaps not as selective, schools?

I want to get the best education available to me, and I don't want to be rejected from every school I apply to.

I went to one of the FEW SCHOOLS IN NEW YORK CITY THAT OFFERS ONLY HONORS COURSES, SO BY THE END OFSENIOR YEAR I WILL HAVE 20+ HONORS CLASSES.

...and I have some random academic awards to my name...just school awards, though.

EC's
Basketball- freshman, sophmore,senior
Soccer- senior year
4 clubs in between

Had a paying job for two months in freshman year tutoring kids but after that I decided to do it for free but only did it 30 hours every year.

My schools:

SAFETY--- Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Hofstra, University of Rhode Island
COMFORT---UMASS- Amherst, Clark University, Ithaca College, University of New Hampshire
REACHES--- Syracuse, Penn State- University Park, University of Delaware, University of Connecticut, Northeastern, University of Maryland- College Park

IS THIS COLLEGE LIST TOO LONG!? IF SO WHICH COLLEGES SHOULD I TAKE OUT?

i live in nyc and want to go to college in the north east, within 4hrs of nyc. i am looking for a school that has enginnering and/or computer science majors.

If it's over 8-12 schools, it's way too long.

Are you looking for financial aid? If not, that is a lot of schools, though hopefully with short state apps and the common app it won't be too bad. As to taking out schools, if you can get an answer quickly from one of those schools, you can take out anything you don't like as much. You may want to get some of those apps with EA and rolling admissions out ASAP and you can cut out some of them based on feedback from those.

So cpt, if you are looking for financial aid, you should apply to as many schools as you like?

It shouldn't be too bad, I mean you're applying to 14, 8 of which use the common app [Clark, Fairfield, Hofstra, Ithica, Northeastern, Syracuse, U Del, UMass-Amherst, and U New Hampshire] so really it shouldn't be too heavy, so as long you give yourself enough time to complete the applications efficiently then it's all good, also I'd agree that you should try to get some EA or rolling admissions apps out of the way with the idea that if you got accepted to any of them that you'd find that school preferable to another and thus drop one application. Good luck :D

Not too long.

Wowww the colleges you're interested in are like totally like the ones I'm interested in. We have like, almost identical lists, with reaches matches and safeties being at par with mine...I'm only a junior but yeah, totally some of the same schools I'm interested in....just curious, but briefly - what are you stats?

Ohhh sorry I forgot, My gpa is 3.45 in a very competetive school, every course we take is honors. My SAT score is 1810. Verbal- 510 Math=660 Writing-640. I am going to reatke it in october nad take SATIIS in december if necessary.
