College List

Here’s my college list, wondering if I should take off or add any schools. I know I only have 2 safeties but I’m very happy with going to the university of minnesota, so they’re aren’t a lot of other safety/match school I would rather go to.

Safety:
university of minnesota (maybe a match)
saint louis university

Match:
university of wisconsin

Reach: (i will probably only apply to 1-2 of these)
university of notre dame
university of michigan
northwestern university
washington university in st. louis

act:
comp-34 math-33 science-34 reading-34 english-33

gpa:
unweighted-3.8 weighted-4.1

classes:
taken all honors classes and most APs that i could- calc ab, us history, gov, physics c mechanics

also will one CIS (college in the schools) umn anatomy class

decent extracurriculars and leadership positions

Tentative academic interests?

i’m undecided and will likely apply to each university’s colleges of letters and science. not interested in any competitive engineering/business programs

Academically, you would seem to have lots of options, including a chance at some very selective colleges. That noted, based on your earlier thread in which you inquired about schools in or near a city, your list seems like a good one.

State of residence?

Are all universities affordable (have you run the NPC)?

Any reason why you’re not applying to Carleton/Grinnell/Macalester/St Olaf - all very strong academically for liberal arts? (For ex., you want D1 football…)

Make sure you apply to the HOnors college at each university listed.

i’m a minnesota resident, so i get reciprocity with wisconsin

I’m pretty sure i want a bigger school with a lot of school spirit and active social life

That looks like a good list to me as long as you’re happy with the safeties and can afford them. Yes, agree on planning to apply for honors programs at the big state schools.

For the privates, do you know if you could afford them if accepted? You should run the NPC on their websites to find out. Most state schools do not give need-based aid to out-of-state schools – or at least not a lot of it.
