College meets 100% of demonstrated financial need?

Are you black or Hispanic? Your PSAT score may qualify you for national achievement semifinalist or national Hispanic recognition. There are scholarship opportunities associated with both of these. Some of the best colleges in the country (ivy league and peer schools) have the best financial aid. Don’t rule these schools out, whether it’s through questbridge or not.

So, applying to questbridge is a good thing, and I shouldn’t be so cautious?

How much is the student contribution?

And, I’m about 40% Mexican. Which, as I understand, counts as a minority student.

And, yes, I’ve been in the foster care system since I was 14.

Once again, thank you so much!

yes, it is a good thing.

How are you 40% Mexican? I can understand 1/2 Mexican (if one of your parents are 100% Mexican). I can understand 25% Mexican if one of your parents is 1/2 Mexican. Where does the 40% come in to play?

Actually, FAFSA states the following

The schools may have to make a professional judgement in your case.

Well, my mom is 80% hispanic, her father being 40%German, and 60%Spanish, her mother being 100% Mexican. I don’t know, we’re complete mutts. I had to figure this all out for a history class once, and I had the exact percentages and everything:P

Alright, Questbridge= For sure and I will continue to look at colleges which offer 100% of demonstrated financial need, knowing that although they will not actually cover 100% they’re most likely to cover a lot more than other schools. I will also look to improve my ACT score, and possibly take the SAT. I will also look towards private schools. Good? And I’ll get the necessary paperwork to determine my orphan status.

Whew.

^^great!
make SURE you dont miss ANY deadlines - for Questbridge, for colleges offering scholarships [Dec 1 for USC] or any other important FA applications or programs . come back any time if you have more questions. That’s what were here for!

Hi - another vote for Questbridge. For the college match, you only need to list schools you would attend. However, if you are matched with MIT, Stanford, Princeton or Yale, you are not required to attend if you so choose.

Also, look into your state’s regulations - in our state, foster children receive full tuition and fees at public institutions.

My D is at a private all women’s LAC. They meet full need without loans for those with family incomes under $60K a year. There is an expectation for the student to contribute to the cost of attendance from summer earnings. She is attending this school at a much lower cost than our state public institutions.

So, if I’m in an out-of home placement with my uncle, and he’s been made my legal guardian…what do I do? I don’t get any income from him…I am a ward of the state, I think? How do I do this on the QB app?
