We thought the tool was great. We had DS23 set the criteria and the list that came back included most of the schools be applied to. It was a nice confirmation that he applied to “good fit” schools. It took us a lot of trial and error to find those good fit schools on our own. The NYT tool could have helped us understand his criteria and zero in on his “type” of school a lot faster.

Thank you. When initially being faced with how to choose from 6,000 unfamiliar colleges, having such a tool that suggests criteria to think about, and points to a few candidate schools (even if all but one or two “winners” may later be dismissed upon closer inspection), can at least get someone’s ball rolling.
