I'm planning on applying to Cornell next year and I cannot figure out whether to apply to CALS or CHE. After college, I am planning on pursuing a career in environmental health, so both schools have programs that interest me. CHE has the Human Biology, Health, & Society major and a minor in Global Health while CALS has an Ecology major, a Natural Resources major and an Science of Natural & Environmental Systems major. Any tips on which school would be a better fit to apply to?

I’m no expert but I think for you CALS sounds like the better fit. The Science of Natural & Environmental systems major sounds to be the best choice, in my opinion. CHE have majors that would be good to then pursue a career in health, but you will get that with an emphasis on the environmental factors if in CALS which I assume you’d be more interested in.

I would say that HBHS is the best choice out of all those you have presented. SNES and nat res are not going to cover human health enough for your future plans. the ecology and evolutionary biology program of study in the biological sciences major (in CALS) will allow you to learn about human health (through the general bio courses) and some environmental science things, but there likely won’t be any intentional combination of these two areas.

You can apply to both and you will only hear back from one.

Go to the informational sessions for each. This will help you decide which one you may prefer & also which college your experiences & strengths may be a better “fit” for, which will help your chances to be admitted
