Hi everyone.
I got into GWU, college of arts and sciences (CAS)
The thing is that I am considering to major in international relations (IR) - but i am not sure. And this is why i applied to the CAS. I found the elliot school very specialized in IR and since i'm not sure about my major, i prefered applying to the CAS.

I have the following question: How is the reputation the CAS in GWU? And is it easier to transfer to the elliot school when you're already in GWU?

Just some info: I got into Boston uni (CAS), wait listed in Brandeis, and got into NYU (General studies program - intended major IR).

Thanks!!

Though I cannot be 100% sure, I would assume that CAS is stll fairly highly regarded within GWU, because there are still tons of students who major in Political Science at CAS (which is always an option for you at this point if you decide against IR) As for interuniversity transfers, I have no idea.

I will offer you one word of advice though, at NYU, international relations is an honors major and is limited to about 10-15 people per year (as stated on their Dept of IR website). I'm not sure how coming from CGS at NYU would affect your ability to get into that major, not sure if original CAS kids would be given preference, etc... but that might be something to look into if you think you might want to do IR (and would not be willing to be PoliSci)

In order for current students to transfer from the CCAS to ESIA, they need to complete more requirements than they would the opposite direction. These requirements are complete a certain number of classes, maintaining a certain GPA, etc. The requirements are posted online.

After completing the requirements, all you need to do is complete a form and the transaction will be complete.

Thx, Thats very helpfull...
i got to say that college confidential is an amazing site. You really share info that you cannot hear anywhere else. Thanks guys
By the way, GWCurrentStudent, can you give me the link on the internet site to see the requirements? I cannot find them :p
