I was recently accepted to UNL, and a few weeks later, I received a letter from the CBA Honors Academy inviting me to apply. I was accepted as a Marketing Major, so this would be something I am definitely interested in. However, I do not know if I could be accepted into the program. It only accepts 40-45 freshman a year, so I am quite nervous about my chances! I have a 34 ACT, 1470 SAT (New), 2140 SAT (Old), and a 3.38 unweighted GPA. As you can probably tell, my GPA is of my main concern. Although I did have some pretty severe circumstances happening in my life during my freshman and sophomore years that lowered my GPA, I am still quite nervous, as the average GPA (according to the website) is 3.77. To provide additional information, I am an Out-Of-State student, I have been in FBLA and DECA (both student business organizations) for four years, I have one national DECA award, and I am a DECA State Officer. Please let me know my potential chances for being admitted into this program, as well as any potential tips to help my application! I would greatly desire to have this experience. Thanks!
I’d be interested in hearing more as well - my daughter is interested, but our school is small and didn’t have opportunities for DECA or FBLA (or, much for business classes). She’s applying as a Finance major with a 30 ACT and a 3.95 unweighted GPA. Most of her EC work has been through volunteering, especially as an officer of our city’s Youth Advisory Council and as a lead in their Youth Volunteer Corps. I know they don’t admit many students, so if she’s not even the right caliber, I’ll tell her not to apply.
