I am a rising senior who is interested in studying finance.
Originally, I was planning on applying to the Dyson School and concentrating in finance at Cornell. However, I’ve learned that Cornell is creating a new, separate college for business (College of Business).
I have done extensive research, but still am left with a few questions.
Will applications of the College of Business be open for this upcoming class of high school seniors?
Does anyone know what the supplement is? I have found the essay questions for all of the other Cornell colleges but not for the business school.
College of Business: Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management: Why are you drawn to studying the major you have selected? Please discuss how your interests and related experiences have influenced your choice. Specifically, how will an education from the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) and Cornell University help you achieve your academic goals?
College of Business: School of Hotel Administration: The global hospitality industry includes hotel and foodservice management, real estate, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, technology, and law. Describe what has influenced your decision to study business through the lens of hospitality. What personal qualities make you a good fit for SHA?
I think they are still working all that out…and you are not the only one confused.
In the meantime, I would look at the course requirements for Dyson & SHA and see which is of more interest to you. For now, this year’s freshman Hotelie students are taking the usual SHA courses and I assume the same is happening over at Dyson.
