College of Business Chance me plz!!!!

hi guys
UIUC is def my first choice and im planning to apply priority admission for the upcoming fall.
I will apply for College of Business undecided.
I live in New Jersey and go to public school (heard my schools pretty decent.)
and I'm international student (asian)

my stats are

GPA: 3.58 (probably weighted. Yes I know its badd)
SAT: I am taking it on October, right now, I'm getting around 2000
ACT: I am taking it on Sepember and right now, I'm getting around 31 overall

I am in art AP and taking chem AP, Cal AP AB, one honor, and one regular for the senior year (hopefully my Art experience boosts the percentage of getting into the school)

I got mostly As and some Bs for the junior year but Pre-cal killed my GPA for good.
I have several ECs. I am the leader of Asian festival for next year, got several art awards, lead the reading book club at the public library

My questions are...
For the college of Business, is it an advantage to apply prior decision or is it better if I just apply regular decision with my stats.

If I just apply to the Arts and science and get in, is it REALLY hard to transfer to the College of Business after my freshman year?

I'm concerned because I'm kindda lost whether I should apply for the priorty decision or for the regular decision. I know that there are admit, defer, and deny for both decisions. With my stats, would i get deferred for the priorty decision or denied?

PLZZ help this poor girl! im freakin outttttt

qkrwldh92: I think you have a solid chance at getting into Business if you get your predicted SAT/ACT scores and write a couple of good essays

It’s definitely advantageous to apply priority. Even if you don’t get into Business, you’d likely get into Illinois’ DGS.

And transferring into Business after freshman year is difficult, but not impossible. Here is a link to that process and stats of successful transfer applicants.
[Undergraduate Affairs > Prospective Students](http://business.illinois.edu/undergrad/prospective_students/icts-requirements.html)

P.S. No freakin outttttt allowed ;)

There are actually four decisions you can get: admit, admit to alternative program, decline, or defer. With business, which has the lowest admission rate (under 40%), large numbers of applicants, rather than being denied admission, are admitted to an alternative program if rejected by business, usually as undecided to Division of General Studies although some are offered economics or some other LAS majors. Applying early action creates only some advantage and very little for business which usually defers a large percentage to Feb decision.

Your test scores if they pan out will likely be OK, your weighted GPA is low for business. Business is truly a college that reviews everything and considers essays and ECs to be very important. Nevertheless, your low GPA makes admission to business a reach.

Get a good ACT and you should be able to get into DGS

Thanks! but i got several art awards as a EC and taught kids at the library for 100 hours.
would that help?
I heard that College of Bus considers EC very importantly…
and if i apply to priority decision and get admitted to the arts and science instead, can i still transfer to college of Bus? is it hard to get in?

If admitted to LAS or Division of General Studies, you will have one and only one opportunity to transfer to business, at end of freshman year into sophomore year and decisons are made after your second semester grades are released. Less than 50% who apply for transfer succeed and you will you need high first year GPA, average in the 3.6 range, to have a chance.

Your predicted ACT/SAT scores are in range for the college of Business, but your GPA can kill your application. Also, it is ALWAYS better to apply during the priority period because you get your decision much quicker than regular admission. If you go into another college with the goal of transferring, keep in mind that you only have ONE chance to switch to college of Business. If you don’t get in on your first and only try, you’re out of luck =(
