College of Chemistry Transfer

Hi,

I'm a Chemistry major right now in my freshman year and am interested in switching to Chemical Engineering. how difficult is it and is there a GPA i should shoot for?

You may want to ask the College of Chemistry directly. The forms here do not seem to indicate how difficult it is to change major within the College of Chemistry, or to change from the College of Letters and Science to the College of Chemistry.

[College of Chemistry - University of California at Berkeley - Student Systems and Forms](http://chemistry.berkeley.edu/student_info/undergrad_info/undergraduate_forms.php)

Transferring within CoC is fairly easy, especially since you’re a freshman. I’ve had a couple of friends do it, and as far as I know there aren’t any GPA requirements.

Definitely talk to Maura if you have any concerns though! She’s pretty helpful.

You should have no problem switching over. Since ChemE is in the CoC, and not the CoE, you don’t have the issue of highly impacted class enrollment.

there are also lots of people who switch out of the CoC due to being turned off by the 4A-4B series, so It’s not too hard to switch into the CoC either.
