College of General Studies

I was accepted into the college of general studies. I did not apply there-- I applied to CAS, but only got into CGS. Can anyone tell me some information about it? I read a little of the website-- but are we allowed to do things that we enjoy in our major or whatnot? I don’t want it to be like high school were I am forced to take a science class I don’t like… can we pick that stuff? Or is everything picked out for us? Anyone have any information on this for me?

Just to summarize a little bit:
At your orientation, you DO NOT choose specific classes, instead you pick a "template" schedule which includes all 4 CGS classes. You pick whatever team fits your liking (whether you like earlier classes or later classes) out of a bunch of different options. The 2nd semester of your freshan year, you get to take an elective that will help you accomplish the requirements for entering another school during your junior year. I am not going to lie, it is very much like high school as far as the curriculum, much of it will actually be review. In essence, yes you will be forced to take certain classes, including some you may not like, but look at the bright side, in 4 years you will graduate with the same diploma as every other 4 year BU student.
