College of Human Ecology

I have a few questions about HumEc...

Do current students feel that they have enough course options, or are the choices limited?

Is it easy to fulfill the course requirements, or are they a burden?

How easy is it to minor in a subject outside of HumEc?

Do HumEc students live together, or with students from all of the other colleges?

In general, is HumEc easier, the same, or harder than the other colleges?

Some questions about Cornell in general...

What is nightlife like? Is it dependent upon greek life?

Honestly, how hard is it to do well? Is success more dependent upon true intelligence or the work you put into your schoolwork?

How bad is the weather? I know it's cold, but do you find yourself hating the school because of it? And how difficult is it to get to class in the dead of winter?

I'm visiting soon, and I'm excited to see everything that Cornell has to offer!

definitely enough course options. my only issue is that i feel like so many of the classes i want are offered at the exact same time and then i have to pick

i’m a HD major, and my concentration only means i need one 2000 level class, 2 3000 level classes, and 1 4000 level class. pretty easy to do.

you can definitely minor in something outside of humec. depending on the minor, you might only need 4-6 classes to fulfill it. a lot of minor classes will end up fulfilling distribution requirements too (depending on the minor), so you’re still getting something out of it towards your degree

no, living arrangements don’t have anything to do with your college/major

it’s the same as the other colleges, though you can certainly pick easy classes if you want to (same goes for other colleges)

it’s what you make it. there’s lots of stuff going on in the greek system but also tons outside of it.

it’s a mix of both. the faster you “get” material, the less you’ll have to work at it, but you do need to put lots of work into your classes

i like the cold so i’m probably not the best person to answer this haha. sometimes it’s a little too grey but it’s fine.
