I was recently was accepted into College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts. I was wondering if anyone know how their pre-med program is and how anyone who is familiar with the school likes it. How is the campus? Location? Dorms? Please let me know! Thank you for your help!
HC parent here. Pre-med program is one of the strengths of Holy Cross. Very high medical school acceptance rate, and an alumni base filled with MDs, including Anthony Fauci head of NIH. That being said, there are many who start out as pre-med and don’t make it through. But the advising is terrific. The campus is stunning. Voted many times as prettiest campus in MA. The new athletic center and newish science center are exceptional. Freshman dorms are pretty standard. Good storage, some good common areas for congregating. School and RAs do a very good job of building community and camaraderie in the dorms. This past year the freshman class was over enrolled, so there were more triples than usual. HC is situated in a more residential part of Worcester. Lots of other colleges in Worcester too. Some gritty areas for sure, but also a good strip with fun restaurants, access to stores/malls and the DCU center for music, sporting and cultural events. Not to far from Boston. My D has been extremely happy there. Good access to professors, has made lots of friends, involved in a lot of campus stuff and community service as well.
Congratulations! Academics at HC are as good as anywhere. It’s excellent for pre-med. The school does a great job supporting students for grad school and scholarship programs. Campus is very nice. The surrounding neighborhoods, to be honest, are not a draw, but Worcester, in general, has improved enormously in recent years. It’s a pretty big college town with HC, WPI, Clark, Assumption, etc., so places to go. Boston is an hour or so by commuter train. Good luck!
