Has anyone in the applying RD for the 2020 graduating class at W&M heard back from the school? If not, any ideas on when we might receive notice? Will we receive the decision via email or must we wait on snail mail?
@GuateMom I think the first decision comes through email! That’s what it has seemed like based on the past years!
@GuateMom my D received an email earlier this evening about her decision. She’s been wait listed.
On the day that you posted your comment (three days ago) I got a short email stating my admission decision. It seemed rather informal, so I suppose if by now you still haven’t received a decision it is possible that the official decision will come later.
My daughter received acceptance email on Thursday (we live in Baltimore, MD). There was a big W&M envelope in the mail for her on Saturday.
my son waitlisted last week…it seems to be a pattern. too many smart, well rounded kids applying to too many colleges. wonder how many of these people “pay” college coaches???
@mof4kids We did not hire a coach. I don’t disagree that some people do use coaches, but great kids get in on their own merits, and these same great kids get waitlisted or denied on the same merits. My daughter got in at W&M, denied at Michigan (OOS for both - see user name). She’s midrange for acceptance with regard to test scores and GPA, and had strong EC/leadership and recommendations, so maybe W&M needed a soccer playing, musical theater performing, political science major with a major interest in diversity initiatives (and no, we aren’t URM or first generation), and Michigan already had that covered.
I am totally against hiring a coach…it sort of defeats the whole purpose, in my opinion. I worked in college admission during my undergrad days and it is just insanely different. I am not bitter nor do I think that the admitted students dont deserve it I am just shocked at the process. I have a sophomore in College now and she is happy where she is and did not really aim way too high so it was a different process. The process seems to have gotten ceazier!!! I ultimately believe that kids will end up where they are meant to…if not then you can always transfer!
