My daughter is accepted to Wooster she had a blast at the admitted students weekend.
She has not decided. She has better merit $ there but recently got accepted also to Kenyon and Denison.
We Love kenyon and love all the nature, but somewhat isolated. Denison may be a bit too “ preppy “ for her?? Wooster’s student vibe seems so friendly.
Im seeking information about access to the town of Wooster and about the Dorm experience there. I welcome comments from future, current, and recent parents Any parents of current students here?
Following…my D was admitted to Wooster, too, and it’s high on the list. An acquaintance was there for a couple of years and really liked it. It’s certainly one of the most diverse campuses.
I think one of my main concerns is that my daughter wants her worldview broadened and she didn’t really want to go to college in Ohio (because we’re from Ohio). Do you feel that Wooster has a global perspective? Do the students seem diverse in terms of where they come from? (I know they have a relatively high percentage of international students.) I know these are vague things to tap into but if you have any insights, please share!
There are a lot of international students at the cow. It is like a little pocket of diversity amidst a rather conservative small town. Another way your student could meet people outside of the cow bubble is through Flex Yoga downtown Wooster and Local Roots and the fun coffee shops around the downtown area. Lots of wonderful ways to build community and broaden one’s horizons. Wooster has a great downtown.
I would pick College of Wooster between these two schools in large part because of its much larger student population. That would seem to make it easier for your student to find their “tribe”. As others have mentioned the town of Wooster is accessible and nice.
We visited Wooster 4 years ago during our tour of Ohio LAC’s including Denison (where daughter attends), Kenyon, OWU and Wooster. She had a positive visit at Wooster, even though she ultimately decided not apply.
I live in Wooster and have many dear friends who are professors and/or work at the cow in some capacity. One things for certain: if your student attends the cow, they will be looked after and cared for with compassion. Wooster has a thriving downtown w a fun yoga studio that draws a lot of college kids, coffee shops and local roots. I vote wooster! Pls feel free to reach out to me if you have questions l
