college or money

is college more interested in making good profesionals or just having money from students?

I think they are interested in the money brecause if not they will go bank rupt and close their busines and couldnt buy new things or improve everything, bt they also want to make profesionals because if not there would be no point in buying new stuff.

By making pro's. the University is getting a higher name. altough some are interested in money

I think it is a parallel. If a university makes good professionals then it has a higher rank and therefore charge more for the admission of a students. Therefore universities are interested in both because they both have an effect in one another.

I totaly agree with camilo, the university needs a high rank to win more money, so they make profesionals

Universities care more about alumni contributions than anything...

You can increase alumni giving by
1. having a top Sports Team
2. Producing rich alumni
3. Accepting already rich applicants
4. Solidifying brand name/moving up on rankings

Money from students.

Money. Which, incidentally, they get more of by making themselves more prestigious. Or possibly, their first goal might be to become more prestigious, which in turn means they end up with more money. It really doesn't matter. The fact that you think you got a good education out of it is irrelevant, as long as they're getting those two things.

There are ways schools make themselves seem prestigious without necessarily producing Supreme Court Justices or Pulitzer Prize winners.

but aren't colleges non-profit companies? I don't understand the incentive for the employees to try to make more money for the college. I mean, a for-profit corp. has owners who want to make their stock go up, so there's an incentive. I don't think there are any owners of a college. someone want to clarify this?
