i'm currently a junior and am researching my "list" (a very rough, preliminary list i might add) of schools, but i'm having trouble getting a sense of the schools' "personalities", per say. i'm extremely interested in stanford and spent a weekend there, but still can't really say i got a sense for the school as a whole. this summer i'm going to be doing a lot of visiting but i dont' understand how i can evaluate a school based on seeing a campus and listening to an info session. are there good books to read (i have fiske), or should i contact students at the schools, or what?? for those in college or who have decided on a college, please let me know how you decided on your school and how you eliminated others-----thanks

Check out the books on **************.com, definitely use this website, and good luck! Also, make a list of everything you want in a school.

that website is ************** . com w/o the spaces

i recommend going through various schools livejournal communities.

guide books won't really help you. the princeton review "what students say" section is somewhat helpful. although take it with a grain of salt because it obviously can't show an entire school's personality in a paragraph or two.

you'll really be able to get a feel with the student body there. the tour and info session really won't tell you anything.

thank you!!

MySpace is even better for finding the communities. Many users take one or more surveys, and you can get a feel for what some of the kids are like just by reading those.

i think crazyapp2010 is trying to say college p r o w l e r .com but w/o the spaces. it gets sensored out because of the word p r o w l e r

what's wrong w/ the word p r o w l e r ?

Last I checked it was a Plymouth sports car from the late 90s.

A college does not have one set personality. Every college has many different types of people and communities within it.

for some reason it always gets censored. maybe the think we're talking about stalkers or something

^^weird...

studentsreview.com

those are great sites thanks everyone
