College Plans Reporting Service

Hey y'all,
I just got my College Plans Reporting Service (CPRS) letter.

Does this actually help/matter at all? It seems exactly like student search services.

Any advice/ previous experience?

No previous direct experience. This seems to be a new service as I don’t recall it being an option a few years ago.

I think you are right - this is like a search service which could potentially bring you to the the attention of some schools early. However it would seem to have the added boost of having an implicit level of validated credentials (a certified minimum test score) that might appeal more strongly to the admissions offices of some colleges. It is likely that very selective colleges or very large schools, who get hundreds or thousands of NM Commended+ applicants, will not find it particularly useful, but colleges not at that level could be more motivated to follow up with contacts derived via this service.

I would treat it as an opportunity to show early interest with the bonus of being able to communicate a certain level of ability that might be appealing to some schools. Don’t overthink it. Pick two schools you think you might like to hear from and don’t fret if it doesn’t seem to result in any additional interest.

Thanks!

Hopefully they report my score as well as the normal routine stuff (I made NMSF comfortably I think  )

My son took the reply to the CPRS letter as an opportunity to show early interest in his #1 & #2 colleges, only one week after visiting both in-person. Hopefully, it’s a successful strategy.

NevadaKid: What was your PSAT score if you don’t mind sharing?

I have that question too. I mean, if I send it to an ivy league or similar caliber school, im afraid that they’ll just put it in the bottom of a drawer with the other 10k high PSAT scores.

You are a very young junior, NevadaKid!

So should I choose my two reaches (W&M and UVA), or indicate two private schools that offer full tuition to NMFs? Regardless, I am going to indicate one of the privates (Drexel, Northeastern, or Fordham) as first choice if I make NMF and get admitted, so should I put two of them for this report service to express extra interest, or choose my two reaches, (even if I already get mail from them)? Thanks for any suggestions.
