In the spring, I (and I am sure many others in this forum) was given the opportunity to report my interest in applying directly to two colleges, by the "College Plans Reporting Service" because of my PSAT scores.

I'm curious, how many other people have done this, and what kind of response did you recieve? Has anyone actualy gotten attention from schools due to this service?

For the record, I reported my interest in Boston University and Northeastern, and I haven't recieved anything from them related to the CPRS. I have recieved both their viewbooks in the mail, but the same is true for dozens of schools that I'm not even interested in.

It varies by school. A couple of years ago my son received letters from both schools he named (Colgate and Wash U) - he was already on both schools' mailing lists, but each of these letters acknowledged that he had named the school for National Merit.

i got a letter today from one of the two schools saying congrats on your score and thanks for the interest in our school. the rest of the letter was about honors programs the school has.
