College Prep 2011!

I’m taking one AP this year, plus Math II, Physics, and Chemistry in May. lol Our school only offers 2 AP classes. I’m too lazy to self study. Not to mention the AP tests cost around $80 and I’ve got a few other trips planned this summer so I can’t afford them. Best of luck to everyone who applied.

You can get financial aid for AP tests though, so you have to pay about $5~$10 per test, I believe. Ask your counselor!

no way really? They told me that we’d still have to pay around $60 even with a financial aid discount. Do you know where I can get any info on that?

REALLY?? That is very strange.

In my school, whoever has free or reduced lunch benefits has to pay only $5 per exam.

Yeah, same for our school.
If I had to pay the regular fee, there’s no way I’m gonna take all 4 AP :o

BTW, What colleges are you guys thinking about applying?

At my school every gets about a 20 dollar discount on AP exams, but I went to my guidance counselor and she said the school would pay for all of them as well as my class dues. :slight_smile: It probably depends on your school’s resources. I’m taking APUSH, Art History, and Lang this year and took Euro last year.

I really wish I knew where I was applying! It feels like the pressure is really switching onto our grade now. A Model UN meeting that was supposed to be a party turned into a group panic attack about applications.

I’ve never paid anything for AP.

@belly; same here :wink:
i told Questbridge that i took PSAT but i am not sure if the results shows on my transcripts :frowning: the only test i sent in are State tests that schools are required to take the government also use them?!! i haven’t taken the SAT but i plan to do so in May. i am also taking the ACT on April 27th (my school offers it for free to all juniors) i take 3 AP classes _ AP language and Comp(it’s killing me) AP US history (i have an A considering that i am a foreigner who have resided here in the USA for 2 :D) and AP psych:)

gah, my counselor told me that the lowest I could pay for an AP exam is around $60. Do your schools pay for them or does the the college board give out the waivers?

School pays. CB doesnt have AP waiver

BCB1993- Yeah, college board doesn’t do fee waivers. I believe each school gets certain amounts of fee waivers each year, but i’m not sure.

Bakina- I came here 3 years ago! I understand your pain. I don’t think I’ll do well on AP Language, although I’m doing okay in class.

liddydonaghy- I know. I really don’t know what colleges I’m gonna apply to, so I’m freaking out! :o and I’m kinda losing confidence as I see other people’s test scores and their EC’s. UGH :(

We homeschool so we pay for every SAT, every AP, and every SAT II.

Each state and school district has their own policy for reduced AP tests. It has been several years, but I think my D’s were only discounted $20 or so.

You guys are lucky! At least you get some kind of fee reduction. I’m over the $26,000 limit for our family and I have to pay the full price for every test, 3 APs next year and 3 SAT IIs…

Through QB the only school I’m really interested in is Stanford. I might do Brown and Williams too. I also plan to apply to Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill but Questbridge doesn’t partner with either of those. What about you?

@drumwriter22

I’m not too sure. I need to do more college search.
Among Questbridge partner schools, I’m interested in USC.

does anyone know when they notify us on whether we won anything for college prep? I’ve been admitted to several summer programs and I need to know whether or not i can attend

I believe around April 22

I was looking at my application and I found two typos that I missed despite reading it over several times… “has” instead of “as” and “moving to here” instead of “moving here.” Ahjldsfs… going to watch videos of puppies to cheer myself up.

On the bright side, there is no way I’m going to fill out the CommonApp without making several people check it over.

LOL at your edit reason liddydonaghy.

Haha, I found two typos in my quest for excellence essays :stuck_out_tongue:
But I’ve kind of given up with worrying over that… I mean, I get my point across either way. Also, my cruddy computer malfunctioned and didn’t allow me to make PARAGRAPHS in the entry box soo… :frowning: Theyre going to think that a mass of text is what I qualify to be a paragraph. That kind of kills my chances for me as it is.

Sighs.
