College Prep 2011!

NO KIDDING! If we’re this anxious now, imagine what it’s gonna be like when we’re looking at where we’ll spend the next 4 years of our lives… 48 hours! I just want something at this point, even an invitation to the conference (though I probably won’t be able to go).

Yup, I think my essays have also been too boring. I just downloaded a book on “winning scholarship essays”…better to know now before I start all of the college essays. The only thing is, many of the ones that won were: "I escaped from worn torn (fill in the country) made my way on foot 2,000 miles to (pick the refugee camp), finally made it to the USA on a rickety raft…
I’ve had adversity, but I can’t compete with that…
I tried to look at my QB application again, but now I am getting an “access denied” notice-anyone else have this problem? (I can view it html though…sorry to say. Now I hate everything I wrote. Arg.)

So if you weren’t notified by now, are you not a finalist?? : (
I never thought I would actually stress over this, I have to study for my AP’s.

@Nerdpax- No; only finalists for the counseling were notified (that was only 40 people). Everyone else is still in the running for the other awards, and will probably be notified by Friday. We all need to study for APs…ugh. They’re right around the corner. ):

So, does anybody want to make a guess at what time we’ll receive our notification emails?

^^ From the last couple of years people didn’t get notified by 12:01 and sometimes not till 2pm and later(like 6pm)

I’m sure some of you got this call as well, but yesterday (4/20), I was contacted by a lady from Questbridge to notify me that I was one of the 20 people they are considering for the full scholarship to the Summer Program!!! It’s still no man’s game, 50% chance of getting it, and even if I don’t, just being a “finalist” ah. we’ll see, 2 more weeks until I find out if I’m one of the lucky 10

From Miami, she called from California

Congratulations, x3savearth314!!! At least someone got good news. I am anxious about tomorrow. I didn’t apply for the summer programs (I’m doing research in a lab this summer), but I really want to go the conference or get college visits. I’d be happy with anything though.

I looked at last year’s thread, and they didn’t get their emails until mid-day. Ahh… I’ll be in NYC from early morning until 9.

Congrats, <3savearth314! :)

I didn’t get a call, and even if I had our answering machine has been full for about a year.

I probably won’t even check my email until 8 PM so I won’t be refreshing all day. And I would have a small panic attack whenever I got a new message, only to find out its from Random College in Florida Which Only Has a Few Guides Left!

Ha yeah, I agree. I may bring my iPod with me and check it at a cafe in the evening. I can’t torture myself all day.

Wait, for yesterday’s call, was it off a 650 area code or an 800 call?

Oh who am I kidding myself, I’m probably just the average, generic QB applicant.

Are AP Scores a major consideration? If so, then I might have a better shot. (I got 2 5s and a 4 as a sophomore…)

Metrical- Thank youu!!! it truly made my day, albeit of what the final results will be! and your research opp. sounds quite fantastic =) best of luck with that.
Liddydonaghy- I will probably take you up on that strategy as well, b/c otherwise it’s like a personal request to be driven mad at our own expense =P

I’ll still be checking like crazy, b/c I find out about the summer program, in ANOTHER two agonizing, torturous weeks. Tomorrow I still find out about all the other awards as well! Best of luck to both of you!!! May the force be with you =)

OMG!!! The wait is agonizing and the dang AP exams are keeping me up a night and increasing the tension…GAH!!!

notatruetarheel- Yesterday’s call was a 650 I believe. Hey, don’t lose faith! Tomorrow’s awards are A BIG DEAL! Good luck!! And yes, they like AP scores she told me, wow, I see you have impressive test scores here! So yes, it counts a lot =)

I’m so stressed with APs/SATs and now Quest Bridge and Junior year is absolutely terrible, in the sense that there is so much pressure.

jacobo2880- AP/IB/SAT/SATIIs… the alphabet soup of exams IS A GOOD THING! b/c it keeps us busy =))))

Either way, congrats x3savearth!

And guys, keep in mind that these are REAL COLLEGE DECISIONS or even College Match for that matter. It’s not the end of the world tomorrow.

By applying to QB, you are already showing that you are more insightful and knowledgeable about scholarships and other programs than most other candidates, and that will serve you well.

So don’t sweat it. LOL, by just typing that, I’m bracing for the worst tomorrow and telling myself whatever it is, it’s for the best.

this question is extremely late but I’m looking for some reassurance:
On the application, I put down scores from my 3 SATIIS and 3 AP exams; however, I later noticed that my guidance counselor never faxed in the official reports of the scores. My ACT and PSAT scores were still faxed in, so I do have those scores verified. Do you all think I will be penalized/at a disadvantage because of those missing scores?

tennisplaayer114: I am sure it won’t make or break you. I didn’t have my SAT scores when I applied and it was too late to update them when I got the March scores back (204 on PSAT to 2230 on SAT). I know a lot of people who applied and didn’t send any subject tests because they hadn’t taken any. I think they will trust the validity of the information you provided, and if not, then at worst they may disregard it.

Good luck tomorrow everyone! I’ll be back tomorrow evening.

Will the decisions be posted this midnight?
