College Prep 2011!

SueHeck: I wrote a long post earlier about the College Match, but it got lost in the array of posts, lol. It’s a whole new application entirely, and Prep finalists just get their info (like the handwritten transcript part) saved and transferred, though you can definitely change your essay around. There are more essays to write, though, for that application. Check this out: [QuestBridge National College Match Program](http://www.questbridge.org/students/program.html)

@Sue Heck- first of all, I love your name!!! Yay for “The Middle.”

Secondly, the bottom of the letter was just a reminder. We can transfer all of our information to the new college match scholarship next year, but we can also edit it as we please. There is no “in it” or not; we simply have an advantage because most people will start from ground zero, but we will have most of our information already completed.

@belly, I am so sorry. I am sure you statistics were good and that questbridge is missing out by not choosing you.

Does anyone known when the quest for excellence award winners will the notified because I want that dang laptop :D

With regards to the Quest for Excellence Awards, they have written on their website ([QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship - Awards](http://■■■■■■/gDGuaz) “Quest for Excellence Award recipients will be notified in the spring of 2011.”

I don’t now what that means, but it looks like it’s another long wait.

My post was a little too late, lol.

I got two internships and a finalist for TASP. I think my rec hurts me since she completed it an hour before it was due, and was in pain, and my stats aren’t that high (2 Bs so far).
Hmmm…

Wait. so the Quest For Excellence award is not out yet??? Does it mean if I get rejected from this first one, I’ll be rejected from that one as well?

@belly, not necesarilly. In fact, you have a statistically higher chance of winning one of the awards :D. And only 2 B’s is actually pretty good (though it also depends on which school you go to). I have had like 7 B’s and B+'s so far

I’m stunned.
240 PSAT, 36 ACT, 4.0 GPA and flat-out REJECTED. Not even wait-listed for anything. Congratulations to all that received good news today.

hey y’all! congrats on your acceptances!

so I also received an invitation to the Yale Conference! and nominated for college visits. But I can’t go to the Yale Conference since I just got accepted to MITES and have already sent in my acceptance forms and MITES starts June 17.

I am pretty bummed because I really really wanted to go to the Yale Conference…I am gonna try and see if I can attend…but chances are lookin’ slim. I really hope I get a campus visit since I haven’t visited any college except UPenn where my sister goes.
so maybe zrathustra can take my spot :)

I am definitely applying to College Match…do you think they’ll still consider me a “Prep scholar” even if I don’t attend the conference?

@tennisplaayer
those are some really nice stats o_O :D

I AM SO SURPRISED. Got accepted for the conference at Stanford with a 177 PSAT and 23 PLAN. :D

Somethingbetter, I’m 99.9% you can still consider yourself one of the scholarship winners. Have fun at MIT!

@jacobo: I attend a top school of my city. 2030 SAT. I think I was too relaxed in class that my teacher did not write a good rec. My essays were hardly unique. Anyway, I’m also stunned I got flat out rejected.

@tennis: Perhaps because with 240 PSAT you are already a NMF?

hi everyone,
im new to CC. first post!
i was waitlisted to the yale conference and nominated for the campus visit.
did people already find out about the quest for excellence awards?
is everything over now? no hope of any summer program or any other award? =/

Things I learned from College Prep:

 • Writing a short answer on 30 Rock is not a deal breaker
 • SPELL CHECK SPELL CHECK SPELL CHECK
 • People with excellent stats sometimes get rejected
 • People with stats that aren’t mindblowing (such as myself) sometimes get accepted
 • You don’t get anything if you don’t try

@SueHeck: I don’t see how that would affect QuestBridge’s decision; they are two completely separate organizations.
I am very disappointed as I was truly looking forward to attending a conference or any type of Questbridge award. Again, congratulations to all.

I got waitlisted for the conference and nominated for the campus visit and counseling  I was expecting something along the lines of “We regret to inform you…”

tennisplayer- maybe qb didn’t see enough need?
