@x3savearth314: Maybe… I was definitely within QB’s income range (<60k), but I don’t really know how my parents’ assets compare with what they were looking for.
Oh well, I will still be applying for College Match, so we’ll see how that turns out.

Re: Yale conference-does anyone know of reasonable hotels in the area? I’m trying to do the math on this, it doesn’t include lodging or anything, so wondering if anyone has any ideas?

I haven’t looked at any hotels yet, but did you click the link in the email QuestBridge sent you describing the conference? On that page there’s a link with hotels near Yale listed, and they know we’re low-income, so hopefully the hotels are reasonable.

Would anyone mind reading my QB essay and tell me what they think?

I just let my girlfriend read it and she *****ted on it hard. lol. Then again, she has every right to as TASP finalist I guess…

Hey, nota. I’m a TASP finalist also and I got rejected. So no, whatever she might say doesn’t affect what the judges think…

YES~
I have been invited to the Stanford Conference—applying for the travel grant as I type—and have been nominated for the all-expense paid campus visit. I don’t think I can attend without the travel grant though so I’m sitting tight.

@belly, good job on TASP! and honestly, that’s really reassuring.

@kimberlyy, nice job on the conferences, but don’t be surprised…I don’t think test scores have a huge weight. you probably just have a really good transcript and essays and they thought well of you :).

Hey guys, when do we find out about the Quest for Excellence awards? BTW, New Yorker here nominated for campus visits and selected for the conference at Yale. Guess I wont be receiving a travel grant.

of course I post when it dies. lol

LOL, as of right now, QB has been vague and said “Spring 2011”, so no one knows for sure.

I have been nominated for telementoring with Amherst student, all-expense paid campus visit, and Questbridge College Admissions Conference. Hope I can be finalist for at least one of them

i got accepted for the stanford conference is that good?

what’s the tasp?

haha ok cool! I put a good amount of effort into the Quest for Excellence responses, hope I get picked. But seriously, Quest Bridge is known for being super selective so I am glad with my awards! Congrats to everyone

TASP is an very selective summer program. Only the best of the best go there. =) Perhaps the judges thought the TASP finalists were already well prepared for college and do not need a College Prep Scholarship. After all, I be selected as a TASP finalist takes a lot of stamina. Just looking at the TASP’s application tire me out… xD

Anyways, for the conferences, can we attend half of the conference? I am booked the morning of the conference =(

I did not list TASP finalist as an award on college prep, nor did I list my two internships ( full scholarships) on my application. So there was no way the judges knew.
My EFC was 0 too. I’m a recent refugee (3 years), and in a very disadvantaged situation. And QB passed me up…
By the way, how selective is the invite to conferences?

Maybe Quest Bridge and TASP look for 2 different types of people?

@Belly
Dude, you wrote that your essays were not unique at all. The Quest Bridge application was about personal character as much as it was about grades. The conference is selective because many people apply for Quest Bridge.

Well honestly, I think they did differ. Perhaps TASP picked me because of my story, but for QB, I’m sure tons of people are like me in term of hardship and achievements. I also feel that the room to express myself was much more limited on QB, and it was extremely difficult to pick out 3 things completely unique from other applicants. If there is one thing I could change about QB, I would definitely choose the length

invited to conference at stanford and nominated for campus visit, hahaha nice surprise afteer coming back from studying for ap exams ;D
