I do believe the age to check into a hotel is 18 correct? and on the travel grant section where it says "The parent or guardian will need to present QuestBridge staff with receipts for their travel expenses to receive reimbursement covering the amount of the travel grant. " means that questbridge will repay for what the gaurdian had to spend?

edit, never mind.

Does this mean I would have to show every gas receipt?

@SueHeck - I found something called the New Haven Premiere Hotel and Suites and La Quinta in. They’re both within walking distance of Yale so we wont have to pay for transportation.

Also, you have to be 21 to Check-in to a hotel. I’ve called 2 New Haven hotels and they both told me 21 and they’re not aware of any that allow 18 year old individuals to check in.
I emailed QuestBridge, so I’m hoping to hear back Monday. I want to book my flight and stuff before it’s too late…

If any of you find out any information, please post it!

The colleges will contact you if they choose you to be the person to visit their college for free! The nominees just wait, but not all nominees get picked.

So I’m curious. Is anybody going to go after National College Match. I want Harvard early action, but QB doesn’t support this and I think they have an unusual system where you rank you’re colleges and what not…

Now, on to AP studying. Got to find more scholarships!!!

Just registered here on CC! Anywho, I also got an invitation to the conference at Yale and a nomination for an all-expense paid visit.

I’m also from Chicago, IL and don’t really know where I’d be staying for the night if I went by plane. My dad offered to drive the 14 hours, but is all that worth the conference? I really wanna go, but its pretty pricey.

@ Lalaland123 - I feel it’s worth it. I mean, we did put a lot of work into the application. Might as well make the most out of our awards; otherwise it was all for nothing.

I’ve been looking into hotels and such. It costs so much, but I’ll pay my family back once I get a job this summer. I wish I knew someone who went to Yale; that way I could just bunk in their dorm haha.

Well actually, I’d like to point out that if you book a flight and hotel package (which I highly recommend) on orbitz per say, you can pay online through your parents credit card (if applicable) and freely travel, no questions, no nothing. It is also suggested to call the hotel and tell them your situation, and there really should be no problem.

I had a very long talk with Continental Airlines today about this haha…I explained to them everything.

Anyways, I am going to the conference at Stanford and was nominated for a college visit. I have to say I didn’t expect anything more, I only wish I did not make my essay so personal. Consequently, I feel unveiled. Now, I am waiting for my JPL results and attempting to study ap exams.
If anyone wants to meet up at Stanford, just message me !

Some people can’t get there by 8 am and leave at 7 pm if they live like 7 hours away. I live about 2.5 hours away so I will just drive up with my parents and leave the same day in the evening.

I got the Yale conference and nomination for a campus visit. But 1,000 people get it, which is a lot compared to the other awards. Ehhh. I wonder how many people applied for Prep…

The 1,000 people who have been invited to the Yale conference comprise only 30% of the total number of people who applied. Granted, Questbridge isn’t as selective as Harvard (6% admission rate) but it’s still something! Don’t be down, congratulate yourself for making the cut. :)
