Is anyone else having trouble with the College Prep application being down? It booted my son out and isn’t working right now. :-(

Okay, thanks guys. That makes me feel a lot better!

@supergrover911: have you started yours yet? I still haven’t I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be a finalist. I’m stuck on most of the short answer questions. GAHH. Only a few days left O.O

@scotsmom: is your son a great writer? Kudos to him I really can’t think of anything to write. I’m the kind of people who NEEDS to put in bucket loads of time to write a good essay.

^haha, yeah. I’m starting right now. I can only think of 2 factors that “shape” who I am, and I have no clue what I’m going to my personal statement about. I don’t think I’ll make it either. .__.

just wrote my essay. Application submitted :D

@orangefroot, I think my son writes well, but waiting until the last minute makes things difficult for anyone. Did you look at the essay examples on the Questbridge site? Just tell your story. Your essay will be an important part of your college applications in just a few months, so this is good practice for getting “unblocked.”

Good luck to everyone. This is an exciting year in your lives!

Do you guys think it’d be weird if I did the African American Award thing if I’m a Caribbean black person. When they say AA do they mean black Americans, or strictly AA’s, because I don’t really identify with that culture?? (I also mentioned my cultures in the short answers section). I would just talk about being black in general. Does that sound ok?

@supergrover911 I think you should ask a Questbridge rep. Just go to the FAQ section for College Prep Scholarship on the website, then click “Click Here If You Have Another Question” and ask away. They are really quick answering all your questions, like an hour tops I think?

@scoutsmom: Really? I didn’t know there was sample essays. Thankyou. I’m looking for it right now :D

Did anyone else find the short answers harder than the long essay?

Haha, I’ve only finished the intro paragraph for my 500word essay.

i just finished my application and the quest for excellency essays:D thank god. but my teacher recommendations aren’t done yet and i’ m freaking out b/c my teacher seems not to care:mad:

Would Quest Bridge disqualify me if my transcript and test scores come after the deadline? Thanks.

Nevermind. I do.
Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, Orangefroot, but I think I’ll just pass. I really don’t feel like writing another essay at this point anyway :/

I agree. I’m still struggling with just these essays. How are you doing with your application?

^I’m not sure if that was directed towards me or not, but I’ve finished everything except for the personal statement. It’s really giving me hard time. I have NO clue what to write about!! I’m starting to stress about it. I also have a lot of school work to worry about. I’m hoping I find some inspiration by tomorrow X|

has anyone passed application know how quiz ?! somehow i cant seem to get that second question :(

^^ Are u talking about this question “The extracurricular section of a college application can be used to list work experience or time spent taking care of family”. If so, the answer is true… (if it still doesn’t work, you should try refreshing your page)

I submitted my app, but have not even started the quest for excellence awards essays (so many 300 words essays…)

im sorry not the second . the one that had the choices like vague abbreviations, unprofessional contacts with admissions people, and it had like 5 choices?

Ha-ha! That question stumped my son, too. I think it was 3 answers but I’m sorry, I don’t remember what they were since my son already submitted. If you list them here, I can help you.

they were:

Vague abbreviations.
Proofreading mistakes.
Inappropriate email address.
Discussion of personal facts about background.
Unprofessional contact with admissions office

^^ They are all checked except “Discussion of personal facts about background”
