@noloserhere

Congrats, that’s a very good score!
Ahha so we both got 1420? (CR+M) The average score last year of the recipients of an award was 1260, so I hope I get something!!! :/

I like lists…
It would be nice to just add more people on the list and once people win a prize we can put their award next to their name or something like that.

This is a general question:

How are the conferences like? Do you stay somewhere? Do you travel alone? How does Questbridge grant the travel aid and how many people do they give it to?

Do they only look at the combined CR + M score? The application asked for all three sections, yet they only report on CR + M. My CR + M is pretty good (1450), but my writing is where I really shine (more so than in my hastily written essays…). Oh well!

@asinine16
I don’t think they grant very many travel grants. I was reading the discussions from 2009 and 2010 and most people said they got turned down or didn’t get very much money.

Did anyone report an ACT score? I see you all have your SATs…which I didn’t take. I had a 34 composite on the ACT. How even am I with the rest of the applicants?

They probably consider all scores, so no need to worry.

I’m so nervous!! I applied to TASP earlier in the year and didn’t get an interview and this is really my only other option. My school has a prep course, but I’ve corrected the teacher a couple times and my score isn’t as good as it could be, so I don’t have too much excitement about it. I just want something.
When do we find out if we get anything?

April 22! Judgement Day :)

I also applied to NASA’s JPL summer internship program and I will receive word from them whether I get in or not on April 22 as well !
I don’t know what I’m going to do on that day :O

good luck! asinine16
April 22 is THE day!

THE 22ND?! ahh!
how do you guys know that?
i’m so nervous! i didn’t put any of my standardized scores on there because i only took the psat and yea… hah.

anyway, add on to the list.

but then again, its pretty amazing that they can go through so many apps in just three weeks! kudos!

does anyone know how many Quest For Excellence recipients there were last year/the year before?

Good luck to you too ymlee822!! And everybody else!
We all deserve a prize

Did I miss anything? LOL

And as for the April 22, I believe I received an email from Questbridge specifically mentioning the date. I hope I am not making this up lol! Can anyone confirm?

Sorry for the double post BUT I wanted to ask a question (yet again)

OKAY, if I receive an invitation for the conferences, can I bring a friend with me??
So I live in California and I’m looking for an adventure so I would much rather fly to New Haven for Yale. My plan would be that me and my friend would fly to JFK airport (imaginary money as of now, but I’ll figure something out to pay the ticket) and we would catch a train to New Haven and would stay 2 nights at my mom’s friends house in NYC. Wouldn’t that be super fun? I want to bring a friend with me because I don’t want to feel socially awkward -___- I hope to meet you guys there LOL stalker…but yeah !

hmm I think you can go with your parents or family member, but not friends.
but again, I’m not exactly sure, so it might be okay.

It’s like…if someone gets invitation to conference award and take me with them when I didn’t get the invitation, it’s not really fair…you know?

Oh yeah I know what you mean but my friend really isn’t the academic type or anything…I just do not want to be alone ;(

I’m taking five AP exams and three SAT subject test. Kill me now, please. :(

@asinine16.
lol i legit live /walking/ distance from JFK airport. 10 minutes give or take.
and once you get here, what train are you planning to take missy?
lol sorry.
i’m really prone to patronizing tourists. too many of them in nyc. ask directions all the time. sometimes i just get mad and give them bad ones and tell them to walk in the opposite direction.

All of us CCers can plan a little meetup at yale.
I hope my friend and I both get in so that we can go to yale together. :]

Don’t worry asinine16. This sounds WAY beyond creepy… but if we both get in and you need a buddy from JFK to New Haven, I wouldn’t mind meeting you!

Haha ok. I Just realized HOW creepy that sounds… cough. But I do live 10 minutes away from JFK.

GASP me too !
AP Physics B

HAHAHAHAHA I’m cracking up ! Everyone on the internet thinks I’m a girl lol am I too frivolous, flamboyant, girly? I’m not gay or anything though, no offense of course!

Well I would love to meet random strangers from the internet and go on 2 hour train rides with them !!! (Just checked on wikipedia that there is such train that takes u from nyc to new haven)
No but I think that sounds fun, just don’t abduct me haha

Yeah…sorry that I assumed.
It’s alright.
I’m taking two of the same APs as you and the USH SAT II
I’m self-studying for 3/5 of my APs though my school doesnt offer ap courses for them.
if youre ever bored and want to chat, PM me and ill give you my aim screenname.

i think i should stay off of this forum until the 22nd. its going to make me so upset if i dont win anything later :/

Oh no need to apologize, we’re all somewhat friends here, right? haha
And I am confident that you will win something ! But this forum for me (as well) is a distraction along with facebook.
I can’t bear to imagine how difficult it must be to self study an AP! Some classes I can imagine but others, virtually impossible.

I’m more of a math/science/art history person, although I love literature. I suck at us history :/

sorry to intrude but you guys are lucky you can take so many APs !! at my school we can only take 2 -___-
SAT II:
Math 1 - June
USH - June
Lit? maybe? -June

Math 2 - Oct
Chem- Oct

does anyone know when the summer programs are though ? like in may or june or july ?

Hey guys,
I’m assuming you guys will apply for National Match. right?
Since we have to submit the app by September, does it mean that we can’t send our October or November SAT II to Questbridge?
I was planning on taking SAT II foreign language test, and it’s only offered on November.

I’m pretty sure we can send the October scores…just barely though.
If you don’t match and you are deferred to the regular round, you are more than welcome to send the November and December (?) scores.

I would not advise taking 5 AP’s, it’s very stressful and I do not sleep anymore.

EDIT: Summer program dates are all online on the questbridge site, under the awards tab :)
