I was considered for a college prep scholarship to go to a summer program but I got accepted to another summer program with a full ride as well. I am thinking of choosing the other program. Will this hurt my chances for the National Match Program? Thank you.

Did you already receive notice from QuestBridge regarding your acceptance to a summer program? We are anxiously waiting to hear something, and you are the first to hint that you’ve received an offer. Thanks, and congrats on MITES!

Thank you And yes. They notified me through an e-mail on April 4th about moving to the next round in the process, which consisted of faxing my financial info, ranking the programs within the Notre Dame program, and writing an essay answering a specific question they give one. They only select a very small amount of all the people who apply. For the program I was being considered, the Notre Dame one, the person to whom I was assigned told me and my counselor that they only selected around 12 people out of a pool of over 5,000 applicants. Furthermore, almost everyone who gets this far in the process gets the scholarship. However, and correct me if I am wrong, I do not think they have announced their invitation to the conferences, or other awards such as Quest for excellence.

No, why would it.

Good grief! April 4th?! That was only a week after the apps were submitted!

@NO295208: I just thought it would look bad lol but I guess it shouldn’t affect my chances of being a finalist. Thank you!

@karencov: Same thought went through my head. Apparently they were in a tight schedule because once they nominate an applicant, that applicant has to complete the application to the program for which he/she is being nominated. Then, if the program accepts the applicant, QuestBridge and the partner university cover the cost of attendance and everything involved. I received the email on the 4th and everything (tax info, additional documents/essays) was due on the 6th. Really tight, time wise, but manageable.

wow congrats on some great summer options! do you know if they notified all finalists for summer programs, or just students selected for the notre dame program?

congrats collegefreak112? Do you mind if I ask you what factors you think contribute to your acceptances to these super selective programs, like grades, essays, income, etc? Thanks!

I just received my denial today :-(

Very, very surprised that my son got his acceptance email today. He is white and not first generation.

I was not even going to have him bother with this after I researched the program and saw the stats of those who got in. But Questbridge sent him a letter a few months ago encouraging him to apply so he did.

So for all those who think that they should not put in the effort (and it takes a lot of work to fill out this very long application) because the odds are against them, I say give it a try. You never know!!!

Did they tell you which college campus you will be attending a summer program this summer? or does that come later??

Hello everyone! I am a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar.
However, I have one question. I applied for two summer programs
however, it is written, “Please note that College Prep Scholars selected for a scholarship to a college summer will be contacted separately by mid-May.” Yet,
I did not get a notification, like collegefreak112, of moving on to the next round.
Does this mean I still have a chance of receiving a scholarship or no?

^Bump. I’m curious to know the same thing.

Like collegefreak, I was also contacted with an offer. It would be my guess that people will be contacted at different times, as I got my offer a week after he did. Mid-May will probably be the absolute latest.

I still don’t receive anything from QuestBridge just the invitation to a Stanford Conference and a short paragraph saying that I will receive an acceptance e-mail by mid-May but I haven’t received anything!!! It’s May the 20!! Someone take me out of my doubt. Thanks

Hey guys, I was notified on April 24th via phone call that I was nominated for the Emory Summer program. I believe that if you haven’t gotten notified by now, then you were not selected sorry and I don’t know what collegefreak is talking about because I am quite sure that QB did not start contacting people on April 4th (that’s too early…)
