Outside of the Ivys, Stanford, MIT, and Duke, what other colleges have the name to open doors nationally and internationally?

I think the sway that goes along with the Ivies and other super-rep schools no longer commands the societal worship.

In fact, I think there is a growing resentment among Ivy league graduates...

Anyways, there are plenty of schools with similar/better "door opening" prowess. Northwestern, Caltech, Georgetown, UCLA, NYU, Pomona, UCB, etc.

Today, prestige plays little if any role in the grand scheme of success. Going to Harvard will definitely give you push, maybe even land you a nice job first-go, but in the end experience/perseverance will be the ultimate decider...imo.

^^ agreed. There are many schools that "open doors," but graduating from them, even the Ivies, doesn't guarantee anything. Of course, these schools still make up a small percentage of all the colleges, but there are many more than people on CC think.

uchicago....

uchicago and caltech are probably the best outside of Ivy/Stanford/MIT/Duke. In fact I would say the UChi/Caltech are possibly even better than the lower Ivies/Duke.

yea I agree that some of the "lower" Ivies do not provide many open doors. HYP along with MIT, Cal Tech and Stanford are most likely to get you in the door--but then it's up to you.

Carnegie Mellon (namely Computer Science), UChicago, Northwestern

HSisOverated-well said, I totally agree
