I have narrowed down my college choices to Wake Forest and UNC Chapel Hill. Both seem to be equally prestigious, but I am curious if anyone thinks otherwise. Choosing the most prestigious college is rather important to me. I know they are both great schools, but I really want to be a part of the best!

I am extremely fond of Wake Forest and very nearly attended, but UNC is the better bargain if scholarships are not in the works at Wake. (You mentioned in another thread that you are in-state.)

Don’t worry about prestige. It’s probably difficult to grasp that in high school, but it really is of very secondary importance. There are significant differences between Wake and Carolina, but prestige isn’t one.

If you’re in state, you’re looking at a difference of 13k for UNC versus 40k for Wake. Being from Winston-Salem and applying to both of them, I really see no reason to go to Wake without scholarships over UNC.

As a Wake alumnus, I must admit that they’re equal.

In the NE, UNC Chapel Hill has a much better reputation. Save your bucks and go UNC!

UNC is more prestigious, in my opinion, but both are fine schools. Don’t make your decision based only on prestige.
