Do college professors get offended when you ask them for transfer recommendations for another institution? When and how is the best time and way to ask them?

No, I'm pretty sure they don't. I think if you are close enough to a prof. they will understand that it is not a personal slight. I've been out of uni for 1.5 years and didn't have any profs at my uni who I had an amazing relationship with as I had only been at that campus for 3 months (my first year was spent abroad) so 1.5 year later I just emailed my favorite prof and asked her if she would do it (worried that she wouldn't remember me!) but she was really cool with it and agreed to do it. So moral of the story, if I can do it, I'm sure you can too.

yea, i have 2 professors I think I could ask...I'll probably email them during winter break to request the rec. letters. is this an appropriate way of asking? (email)

I'd do it in person.

I guess so, but it just seems easier to do so by email for some reason...I'd feel kind of "guilty" asking in person since i feel traitorious to the school...
