College question about nursing!

Question about nursing courses?
Alright, so next year I will be attending Ball State Unversity to pursue my career in nursing. It looks like my first semester of my freshman year I will be taking these classes:

FRESHMAN YEAR
1st Semester (17 credit hours)
ENG 103 - English Composition 1 (3)
CHEM 101 - General, Organic, and Biochemistry (5)
PSYSC 100 - General Psychology (3)
HIST 150 - The West in the World (3)
ANAT 201 - Fundamentals of Human Anatomy (3)

English 103 was waved so I don't have to take that class. I know for a fact chem101 will be hard because I haven't done any chemistry since my sophomore year of high school. How hard are my psychology, anatomy as well as my history classes gonna be? I heard anatomy deals with an abundant amount of memorization, but thats where I excell in even with my heavy partying at times. I don't think I will party much in college though because I do want to receive my degree (only in moderation). Also, from what you have experienced how are college classes set up. Is it usually just lecture, notes, and test. Are the majority of the tests based on the notes and not the book. I hate when people do that...they make their te sts worth 100 points...put 60% of the test over like 50 pages of notes..and put 40% of the test over like 120 pages of reading that you won't even remember after you read it..usually its not like that is it? I am so scared lol. i wanna prove to my parents i could do well

then stop partying :b

Drop one class and plan to do summer school to lessen the pressure on your first semester’s gpa. Better to play it safe, don’t want to have dig yourself out of a gpa hole.

why would i drop a class if im already only taking 4 instead of 5…taking only 3 would be dumb…then i would be digging myself out of a not enough credit hole…i just asked how these classes are not if i should drop em or not

and its just gonna cost me alot more money taking summer courses

Sorry I glossed over the part of your post that you’re waived for your English class. No reason why you shouldn’t do very well with a 14 credit hour semester. You should expect to spend extra time on chemistry since you identified it as a weakness.

hey well i don’t exactly consider chem as a “weakness” i got an A in chem I A and B in high school…but the fact that I didn’t take AP Chem it might kill me…idk if ur in college or not but from experience are there some college courses in which all the information on the test is from notes and lecture…because i absolutely hate reading the books because ill read them and ill forget what i read right after

You might benefit from taking a seminar on tips for efficient note taking. You will be given a lot of reading independent of what is taught in class so you will need to take great notes the first time you read the pages. The best advice is don’t get behind on your reading.

You must keep your gpa high to get into the nursing school so don’t let things distract you from achieving your goals.
