do teachers take attendance?
do they care if you wear hats/hoods in class?
do they care of you use cd players in class?
do they care if you eat or drink in class?
is participation a part of your grade in a class of 100 or more?
do you have to ask to leave class?

no, not usually (unless its a seminar, in which case they'll notice that you're gone)
no
why would you do this? its like, 4 hours, maybe, that you are in class every day
no

no

Hey, I eat and drink in class all the time. You do what you have to do -- no lunch period anymore!

As for attendance -- the profs in my science classes almost never take attendance/factor attendance into the final grade, but many of the profs in my humanities classes do. (I go to MIT, where humanities classes are kind of seen as thinly veiled torture, so I think the humanities profs feel that they have to factor attendance into the grade so people will show up.)

All of your questions depend very much on where you go to school. If you go to a school with many large lecture classes, teachers probably won't care about any of the things you asked about.

My largest class this semester has about 15 students. My four other classes all have fewer than 10 students. They don't take attendance, but they would certainly notice if someone wasn't there. And being there but listening to music wouldn't be good enough.

Hats etc are fine unless it's a lab class.
Same for eating in class. Our teachers care that we're engaged in what's going on, and it's easier to be engaged while munching on a snack than while your stomach is making weird noises and all you can think about is how hungry you are.

Our classes tend to have a 10 minute break for every hour of lecture, so I've never had a reason to leave in the middle of lecture. If I could ask to be excused without disrupting the class I would, otherwise I would leave as quietly as possible and return as quickly as possible.

no but it's rude in a smaller class

do teachers take attendance?
Some do. Mainly it'll happen on the first day of class or in a smaller class, and most of the time when it happens it's just a sheet passed around the room where you sign your name.

do they care if you wear hats/hoods in class?
In general, no.. but sometimes you'll get a TA or someone that'll ask you to take it off.

do they care of you use cd players in class?
In general, no. It's your poragative whether you want to be there or paying attention.

do they care if you eat or drink in class?
Unless it's chem lab, no they don't care - there's no official lunch period.

is participation a part of your grade in a class of 100 or more?
There are often "discussions" as part of larger classes - so a class of 100+ will be broken down into groups of about 30 for a "discussion".. it's a pain, and often they want you to participate.

do you have to ask to leave class?
Nah, just get up & go, but don't cause a scene in the process. If you know you have to leave early, sit closer to the door.

do teachers take attendance?
some do, some don't. It's up to the professor.

do they care if you wear hats/hoods in class?
no, as long as they aren't safety hazards (ie: some labs)

do they care of you use cd players in class?
if you want to listen to your CD player just don't come, really.

do they care if you eat or drink in class?
no, unless you make a mess or are obnoxious about it

is participation a part of your grade in a class of 100 or more?
no

do you have to ask to leave class?
no, but the class is like an hour long. You can manage to stay.
