Wow… William & Mary is at #93. This ranking is completely absurd.

^^Schools with limited offerings are not going to be cited as much as others. W&M is more of a LAC than a university.

While I agree that it is more of a liberal arts college, I have heard amazing stories about how W&M is outstanding in the sciences. My HS AP Chem teacher has a BS in Chemistry and a PhD in both Chemistry and Biochemistry (2! that’s nuts) and he argues for W&M as having a better biochemistry department than UVa.

^^^^Who says UVA is good in the sciences?

Who says it isn’t? I would like to hear all arguments advocating this.

EDIT

W&M is great for undergraduate education in both the humanities and sciences. I would guess that most online citations would occur for social events (favoring large schools) and for huge research projects (favoring large graduate programs). Either way, it is clearly a flawed ranking. Garbage in, garbage out.

If you wanted to look at academic citations, that may be a good measure of a school’s high level research output. But again, it would tell you just that - nothing more.

I find it very hard to believe that Notre Dame, one of the most discussed and instantly recognizable universities in the world, is not in the top 25 on this list. And UC Davis and UC San Diego are? I am laughing my arse off at this silliness. Meaningless drivel.

Guess what Shank, nobody outside of the U.S. and perhaps Canada hears much about ND. Your school of choice is an unkown entity when it comes to graduate reseach. Good schools known for educating undergrads are not going to be recognized very often internationally. Continue to laugh your ass off at a school like UCSD. It BLOWS AWAY ND when it comes down to international citations.

I am laughing my ass of too right now. Are you jumping up and down stomping your feet as you type your “drivel?”

Nobody knows about Notredame internationally. I doubt even most of the people from US know about it.

^ I am international. I know about Notre Dame. My friend in my school knows about Notre Dame. My other friend also knows about it. That’s 3 already. Hmmm, 3> Nobody.

alam1, definitely some people will know about it. You are taking a way too literal meaning. I meant it is not that well-known. Just ask a random prospective applicant in Germany and he will scratch his head when you tell him about “Notredame”?

No, he’ll ask if you meant the cathedral.

LOL 10 char

Here’s the complete list,

OmegaSanction, lol. I would then clearly tell him “University of Notredame, that’s right the University not the Cathedral.”

I have been to the Notre Dame Church in Paris. I met a French Father who was very charming and wanted to convert me to catholism. I wasn’t interested but was impressed with his English. He has been around and have travelled around the world mainly to less developed countries trying to convert the poor soul who do not know
God.

I see that Notre Dame comes in a very respectable #55 on that list. That’s believable.
