P.S. any out of state college would be fine as well.

Why stumped? You should get into some UC's, although I know a girl who was an honor student who got a D in Honors Chem (private Catholic girls school in SF) and didn't get into UCSC. She went to Chico state honors program. Have some backup CSU's, and look at a few privates who may give you enough merit $$$ to make their school as affordable as UC.

did the girl retake the class like i did?

Maybe add USC to your list? Or a school like Santa Clara. Other than that I second what the reply poster said.

Ya i talked to my college advisor today and she recommended:
CAL/UCLA/SD/D/SB/SC/I
Cal Poly SLO,SDSU
USC,Northwestern, Georgetown, Upenn(idk what she is smoking)`

uc schools should be a strong shot; be sure to read up on what they look for in the essays since you can get major points there.

a bigger question, though, is what do YOU want? The UCs and CSUs are large schools and are not going to give personal attention. Some people are ok with that, but many prefer personal attention and smaller classes.

"did the girl retake the class like i did?" - no she was a 1st semester Sr. Good move on your part.

You may have a shot at a wide range of schools. At couple of long shot reaches are not out of the question. I agree with other poster you should think about what you want. The privates she is naming--is that coming from your or her idea? I notice they are all large privates with somewhat pre-professional focus. It that you driving the selection process? How are you set financially? You can get a lot of funding from privates if you have the need. Run an EFC calculator.

Have you read through a Fiske guide?

thanks mikemac and bettina for the comments. Bettina what schools do u think i may have a shot at? Mikemac i like big campuses in metropolitan areas...hah but some attention from the prof. wouldnt hurt either haha. If you guys could mention some schools that would be great!

American University?

Thanks for the suggestion coreys...but i doubt i will be applying to AU

I personally like the smaller liberal arts schools, you won't get lost in the crowd and are more likely to develop life-long relationships.

Do you have any particular religious affiliation/beliefs??

Pepperdine comes to mind, though not sure your stats would get you in. Your potential majors would fit well with this school.

Point Loma - a Nazarene school has had increasing academics over the past several years. Freshman dorms are located on a bluff overlooking the ocean just outside of San Diego. They have an awsome music program (I did notice you've been into jazz). Also, I know that they are trying to improve their campus diversity. Sounds like you have much to offer them.

Thanks for the suggestions Elliottsmom...ya i think i'm looking for more of an urban school. like most of the uc's...etc

I suck at standardized test...so idk if the UC's are exactly what i'm looking for...because i know test scores play a big factor in their admissions...and race doesnt. Maybe a school like USC or some private might be nice...?? I know i wont be getting a good score on the act...which i'm taking in oct...so any suggestions for a school would be great
