College Research

Which Florida Colleges/Universities either private or public that has the highest ranking in academics? Also schools with top ranking premed and medical school programs.

It’s hard to determine “highest ranking in academics”, since it’s often comparing apples to oranges. Take a look at the following link:

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/search?name=&FL=y&enrollment-min=0&enrollment-max=14000&tuition-min=5000&tuition-max=50000#search?name=&FL=y&enrollment-min=0&enrollment-max=14000&tuition-min=5000&tuition-max=50000&_suid=1393878969103011395280676040048

This is USNew’s rankings of Florida’s schools.

Notice that Eckerd College is ranked #141 under “National Liberal Arts Colleges”, while Flagler is ranked #8 under “Regional Colleges (South)”, and Florida Institute of Technology is ranked #167 under “National Universities”. Apples vs. Oranges

USNews is a good place to get started, but it’s only a start.

I’m not aware of any pre-med rankings; as a rule it helps to go to a better school, but for med school it will come down to your GPA, ECs and MCAT score. You can get to med school by going to Eckerd, as well as UF.

Forget about ranking Med Schools, they are all very good. It’s very competitive, so students are just happy to get an offer from 1 or 2 schools. A few may be better if you plan to go into research, but that’s a seperate item. At this point, don’t worry about med schools, that’s something you can work out before you graduate with your BS. You do not need to attend UF to get into it’s med school, once again, Flagler could do just as well.

Good Luck!
