should i list my local CC if i took a summer class there for dual credit?

S did not list the summer classes, I think he only has 9 credits though. We will send those in with all the AP stuff to get credit

I would hesitate to include summer classes at this point because I wouldn’t want the school to think you’re not an incoming freshman.

You’re supposed to put it on there. Not that UA resort to it (they need every sardine they can get afterall), but lying your admissions application is grounds for revocation of admission if they were to find out about it.

alright…thanks…ill leave it blank.

I would put any college you attended on your application. IIRC, UA does not require you to college transcripts until you accept admission and are sending your final hs transcript, but they will require a transcript from every college you have ever attended should you decide to attend UA.

UA policy is that you can attend another college and still be considered a freshman for admissions purposes as long as you attended that college while a high school student (including summers) or if you attended another college the summer after your hs graduation and before attending UA in the fall.

That’s what I though as well, ST. I just didn’t want to say so since I was not 100% sure.

but would putting it on the application cause admissions to misinterpret, as m2ck was talking about?

alright ill put in the info now and make a decision when i submit it…

I think the admissions office is a bit smarter than you are giving them credit for. ;)

We didn’t consider it lying, we assumed that they were looking for other colleges you attended full time or part time- not one class you took.

When I applied, I entered the community colleges I attended during hs and when my hs transcript and test scores were received by UA, I was admitted as a freshman and was awarded one of the merit scholarships that is only available to freshman applicants.

The system that shows when your transcripts and test scores were received may say that a transcript form that CC has not yet arrived. If this happens, don’t worry as it is just how that system is set up. When I applied to UA, I was told that even if I sent a college transcript for admission, it was my hs transcript off of which they would base their admissions decision. FWIW, all of my CC classes were also on my hs transcript.

Unlike some other universities, UA looks at dual enrollment credit very favorably. If you decide to attend UA, the dual enrollment course you took might give you some transfer credit. Should you decide during your college career that you want/need to take summer courses at another institution, UA will work with you in choosing courses at that institution that will count towards your degree.

Our thought was anyway- they were “Summer College” program courses for high school students- not actually “attending” a college.

^^^

That’s kind of what I thought, too.

I doubt Bama would consider it “lying,” but I guess you should put the class down - but indicate that it was dual enrollment.

“Lying” is obviously a strong word. Like I said, the admissions office knows full well about dual enrollment and summer honors programs (UA itself hosts a summer honors program for high school students).

My son attends a charter HS on a college campus. He will graduate with his AA before he graduates from HS. It doesn’t matter how many college classes you take, you are still considered a freshman until you graduate from HS…I have this confirmed, in writing, from the admissions office.

My son applied as an incoming freshman, put the name of the college he has attended and has sent a college and HS transcript.

My daughter did not enter anything in the “colleges attended” section. Because the class was dual enrollment it will be on her high school transcript. Now this thread is making me question her choice!

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Bama is not going to withdraw someone’s app over this minor confusion. Bama would only consider such if someone had gone to a CC, flunked out, and then tried to hide it or if the person graduated, then went to a CC, then tried to get a scholarship as an incoming frosh.

If you’re concerned, just contact your regional rep and he/she will do whatever is needed.

so basically it doesnt matter whether i put on in or not, but i should because it’s not lying and ill help me get credit for those classes?

You are correct.
