College SAT Score Deadlines

If a college says that test scores must be received by like January 1, and you still send them a score (like a January SAT Subject Test score) will they still consider it? Amherst College says that, "For regular decision applicants, the results of January testing may not reach us in time to be considered." Does that mean if scores arrive before decisions are made, they might still be considered?

I want to retake a subject test. One of my college's deadline for test scores is in February so sending a January score is acceptable. However, all the other colleges have deadlines of January 1. Do people ever send scores after the deadline?

I know that at least Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and Penn allow January test scores (I looked it up yesterday, funny enough, for another thread asking about the same thing). Although they would prefer if you’d send them earlier (at least Yale, Princeton and Penn do). Just check the admissions sections of the colleges you’ve picked. Usually, this info can be found under the ‘standardized testing’ or ‘Application time-table’ leads.

Good luck!
