How competitive is admission to the College Scholar program at Cornell once you are already a student? Apparently you can apply for acceptance during the spring of freshman year if you were not initially selected as an entering freshman. Is it very hard to get in as a rising sophomore or is it more like very few kids apply and most of them get it?

from what i know, very few apply. it's basically the independent major with a few perks.

They don't take incoming freshman, you have to apply at the end of Freshman year. You might be thinking of the Dean's Scholar program.

Few do apply - around 80 to a hundred, and they pick at a max 40 (but they usually pick fewer, around 30). From what I hear, it's mostly based on grades and the promise of your proposal for your College Scholar project.

Is it at all possible for a GT if one were to become interested? (does this have to do with graduating with honors?)

is this like CPRS (because I am in that)

i dont think so. there is no research. you have to apply before spring finals, so i dont think GT matters either.

i looked it up on the cornell website, it's like an independant study program
