I was interested in applying for school-based scholarships (i.e. Vanderbilt’s chancellor scholarship, OSU Morrill scholarship, etc.) and was wondering if they look at your common app essay with your scholarship application. I ask because my common app essay actually fits the prompts exactly for the scholarships.
I’m not sure if they check or not; however, my daughter applied for both Morrill at Ohio State and Chancellors at Vanderbilt and relieved them both. She did not use the same essay as she used on the common app.
At Duke and UNC both admissions departments consider you automatically for Robertson Scholarship. While very few get put forward by admissions (you can apply directly) you ar placed in the semi final round. At that point you have to fill out an extensive application and get interviewed.
It is well worth looking at. Entirely free ride plus summer stipends, mentors etc.
I love the essay I have written and it shows who I am for schools where I am not applying for a scholarship like the ones I listed. I wasn’t planning on reusing the exact same essay, just maybe mentioning some of the same organizations or clubs and giving new commentary and insight.
