College Search Book

Does anyone have a good, physical book they would recommend that I order to look at schools. I'm looking at top schools all over the country and I want something to physically hold in front of me. I'm hoping there's a book with student opinions of specific programs and accurate stats that's extensive and I know there's probably one out there. Any ideas?

The Fiske Guide is popular and many posters here mention it. It will give you some accurate stats, and the academic strengths of the schools. Also a good idea of the school culture. I liked it quite a bit. It doesn’t get into student opinions of specific programs though.

Another vote for Fiske here. :)

Princeton Review Best 378 Colleges is an option too

Fiske is good to run through lots of college options, cover a lot of turf. Then you go to the colleges’ web sites for what you can more specifically glean from them. Thing is, you can sit in the college section of a bookstore and look through several, decide what you like. And likely find the finaid resources in the same area.

There’s a site for student opinions (probably several,) but the trick is they only have detail for the kids motivated to submit. We found them useful, after we had done a lot of research and could filter.

I like “Princeton Review Best 378” because of the extensive section of survey results based on responses of 120,000+ students.
