College Search for Junior Friend

I am helping my friend search for colleges. She hasn't started looking and I said I would help her.

Female

Georgia Resident

Would like to go to college in the Northeast. She does NOT want to stay in GA.

African American

Open to HBCUs

2.9 GPA, with all honors (except math/some science classes). She is taking AP Biology junior year and AP Psychology/maybe AP Lit senior year.

Major in Zoology (open to biology major)

Small College and small class sizes

Urban College

Open to pledging to a sorority

Diverse College

Money isn't a huge deal, but it cannot have a 50k price tag.

Has taken the following science classes: Honors Biology, Chemistry, Physics, AP Biology, and Astronomy. This isn't including senior year.

She went to a magnet school half of freshman year and it ruined her GPA. She has a huge upward trend. She did fail classes due to going to this school. She isn't great in math. Her strengths are science and language arts.
-She hasn't taken the SATs yet.

My friend is really smart and please do not judge her on her GPA. I am expecting her to have about a 3.1 after this school year. I know there won't be a college which will have everything she wants. She also is not a party girl and has grown up in Georgia with some good Christian values.

Does anyone have suggestions for her? Thanks! I just need her to get a basic list for research. :)

How about SUNY Oswego or SUNY-ESF?

Bump!!!

Come back after SAT/ACT…SUNY’s are not out of the question especially for a URM out of Georgia…

What is her budget?

I asked and she told me cost isn’t a problem, but she said it cannot be too expensive.

That’s not a helpful answer. For most it’s a state school or a close to $50k private. Some OOS publics are in-between but usually are not worth the OOS premium.

Yes, I know. She honestly told me she does not know. I am thinking the Suny OOS price may fit her bill though.
