College Search help -grading systems-

The University of Michigan and the UC schools have a grading system that really benfits my application. They do not look at freshman year, and they take off the + and - s. This really boost my profile. What other competitive schools do the same thing?

hmmm I didn't know about the +/- part...

Stanford doesn't look at freshman year, but Im not sure about the +'s and -'s. Im pretty sure a lot of schools wont look at those. We dont even have those on our transcripts.

USC? I think

I don't think I've heard of a college that even cares about the +/-'s......

really? because I have a lot of A-'s I'm worried about :P

I dont think you should worry that much.

I go to a school that sends a lot of students to top schools, and we dont use a +/- grading at all, like i said before, its not even on our transcripts.

I wish they weren't on our transcripts :(

does anyone know of any other schools that drop freshman year???

Wait, so do most schools just cut off the +'s and the -'s
???? Therefore they would then need to compute and entirely new gpa right? Do they( generally) do that?

ahhhhh what "chillin til 08" said!!!!!!
omg that would help me a lot...I could have a 4.0
omggg

Well, it depends on the school. Some schools will take whatever GPA is on your transcript as the GPA they use to evaluate you as an applicant. However, some schools like the UC's and CSU's compute their own GPA for you. I can't remember if the private schools I applied to took my GPA off my transcript or asked to me to recalculate it with just academic classes........

Ya that really helps me too

All schools will calculate your GPA based on their indivual systems. So, dont worry.
