Hello!
I do not know of various colleges and want to inform myself of all of my options.
I am a high school junior and have a 4.5 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted GPA. I have not taken the SAT yet but am aiming for a score in the 1400s. I would preferably like to attend a university in the East Coast and money is not an issue. I recently visited the University of Maryland and absolutely loved it but I feel like I have more potential.
If any of you know of any suitable universities/colleges similar to UMD please let me know!
The University of Maryland has many absolutely top-notch programs and many, many students as outstanding as you’ll find anywhere. If in the end, you still love it best, I promise that, even with unlimited potential, you’ll have the opportunity to fully develop your talents and abilities.
It sounds like you like large universities. Several other state flagships would be similar in lots of ways–UNC and UVA in the same region. University of Wisconsin Madison seems pretty similar to me. Biological sciences are unbelievably strong there, and science and poli sci are particularly strong as well, as well as many other fields.
A few large universities, that are also urban to some degree–University of Pittsburgh, Northeastern, and Boston University. You might like Wake Forest–more of a mid-size national university and a standalone campus, but just a couple of miles from downtown Winston-Salem and a new science research center downtown. Tufts, William and Mary, Boston College, and Rochester are also outstanding mid-size national universities. Tufts is on the border of suburban towns near-in to Boston. W&M has a beautiful campus immediately adjacent to the historic CW district. Boston College and Rochester have very nice suburban campuses near downtown Boston and Rochester.
