Hi, so... after spending the summer pretty much half-vegetated, I decided to start looking for colleges. Going to be a senior next year and my stats are pretty much set. GPA hovers around the 4.02 range (weighted) and idk about class rank hopefully in the top 10%. Taking all A.Ps next year except for Band.

Have already taken:
A.P English (language), Bio, U.S History, Econ, Euro, Calc B.C, and Chem.
4s on Econ, U.S, and Calc, and 5s on everything else.
SAT: 2150 (probably going to retake)
Math: 720
Reading: 780
Writing: 650 =(
ACT: 34
SAT II: Chem 760, Chinese 800, U.S 720
Pretty good E.Cs with some leadership positions
Around 400 volunteer hours

Anyway, I'm looking for a school with a good pre-med program and medium sized. I live in Ohio and OSU is just way too big for me. Parents make decent money but I'm not expecting much from that end so....a school with at least decent merit aid or financial aid packages. Looking for mostly match schools and maybe a reach schools. Not even going to bother to apply to any Ivys except for maybe Brown. O yeah, location doesn't bother me, hopefully as far away from Ohio as possible, the weather here is terrible. =)

Match and reach schools won’t offer you merit aid. You’ll have to be the type of student who a school is rarely able to get in order for them to pay you to attend. I don’t know about it firsthand, but I see a lot of CC posters talking about generous aid from Pitt. You should get four years of free tuition from the U. of Alabama for your SAT / GPA, perhaps more if you’re also a National Merit Finalist. They should be fine for pre-med, but of course, neither of those schools are medium-sized.

Good merit aid should require that you be > 75th percentile. Furman comes to mind as a more intimate option that has a strong pre-med program.

Furman is known for its financial aid. I have met so many people here that are on scholarship as well. And everyone I have spoken to has also received a really nice scholarship. Give them a chance. I had scores similar to yours and received a very nice letter in the mail. =)

As for pre-med, I have met a ton of pre-med majors here. In fact, my roommate is a chemistry focused pre-med major. (I’m a music major, so I’m not the best at this… nor am I good at recommending schools other than the one I am attending. I wish I knew more!)
