I think the most biggest misperception about college and premed is that there is an actual "premed program" (although there are 6/7/8 year undergrad/med programs out there, Emory is NOT one of them). There are the pre-reqs that you have to complete, but that's all contingent upon the student and how to fulfill them. With that said, the science classes here are hard, they go at a fast pace and are designed to make you think conceptually and, in the long run, to ultimately prepare you for the MCATs. Keep in mind, they ARE also weed out courses, meaning if you can't take the heat...well, time for a career change. It's said that only 33% who say they're premed stay that way and if you come to emory, you'll definitely find out why. Just alone in my chem class(out of the 3 or 4 others) 11 people dropped out after the 2nd or 3rd week. As for bio... I have friends who have cried/lost it doing the labs and the test averages aren't pretty. The same can be said for physics, averages come out to be around 60/70 although there are curves to bring it into the B range. Orgo is HARD..however, the orgo professors are amazing! Chem, by the way, is prolly the best science dept. emory has to offer as most of the professors are pretty good. Oh and you'll notice when people have science exams when the halls are dead silent at night =D

Scary...which is why this chick isn't going into the premed route.
Either way, I'm sure the intensity of Emory's science courses will pay off in the end. How's the math courses, jshim? Are they almost as suicidal as the science courses, lol?

math classes are pretty much based on which professor you get, they range from fairly easy to hard/confusing/jackass-like...unless your amazing at math, i highly suggest you choose your math professors wisely through previous class comments which can be accessed through learnlink, emory's email system which can be only accessed after you have been officially enrolled
